Physics and Biking

Welcome to Physics 101! This is your blog where you can post about where you see physics in your world. Have fun and be creative -- I love to incorporate interesting posts into classroom instruction.

I am a cyclist, and for me I see physics in everything involved with biking -- how the size of your tire and trend impacts friction, the way the gears work to decrease force while increasing distance to do the same amount of work, how the weight of your luggage increases momentum making it hard to stop, the way you ride behind someone to "draft" or increase aerodynamics like they do in the Tour de France. In this course I hope you see physics in your hobbies and all around you. I look forward to learning about physics in your world, and using your experiences to help make sense and meaning of this exciting field.

Cheers!
Professor Crenshaw
